Non standard situation
There are situations where 500, 1000 or 2000 frames per second are still too few, in this case, a common characteristic to all super slow motion cameras, we are forced to reduce the resolution if we want to reach higher speeds.
But obviously all cameras don't have the same features and some reach higher speeds than others. It is common to believe that changing the shooting speed is like changing a setting on a computer, but it is not. We always have to consider the amount of light needed to illuminate the scene, the same object at 25fps cannot be illuminated as if we were shooting at 1000fps or even at 10000fps.
Is the sun enough? But if we have to shoot in an enclosed space, which and how much light do we need? At what distance should the lights be placed? Which optics should I use? How long does an object travel to cover a distance from point A to point B and how many frames do I need to clearly see the object during its movement?
These are all questions that must be answered during the preparation phase and consequently different means depending on the situation.
Ci sono situazioni dove 500, 1000 o 2000 fotogrammi al secondo sono comunque troppo pochi, in questo caso, caratteristica comune a tutte le camere super slow motion, si è costretti a ridurre la risoluzione per raggiungere velocità più elevate.
Ma ovviamente tutte le camere non hanno le stesse caratteristiche e alcune raggiungono velocità più elevate di altre. Credo comune è che cambiare la velocità di ripresa sia semplicemente come cambiare un setting su un computer. Bisogna sempre considerare la quantità di luce necessaria per illuminare la scena, lo stesso oggetto a 25fps non potrà essere illuminato come se stessimo girando a 1000fps o anche a 10000fps.
Il sole basta? Ma se dobbiamo girare in uno spazio chiuso di quale e quanta luce abbiamo bisogno? A che distanza le luci devono essere piazzate? Quale ottica devo usare? Quanto tempo percorre un oggetto a coprire una distanza da un punto A a un punto B e quanti fotogrammi mi servono per vedere chiaramente l’oggetto durante il suo spostamento?
Sono tutte domande a cui si deve dare risposta durante la fase di preparazione e di conseguenza mezzi diversi a seconda della situazione.
